If your home is feeling dingy but you can’t quite figure out why, it might be time for a fresh coat of paint. But how do you know for a fact this is what will fix your space?
We turned to a few paint pros to find out what signs we should all look for when trying to determine if a fresh coat of paint is required.

Assessing the Severity of Your Current Paint Job
Before busting out the paint cans, professional house painter Juliano Da Cruz says he likes to assess how severe the issues are.
If you simply want a change or a refresh, Da Cruz says go right ahead; with no major issues, you can take your time and pick the color you love.
But if you’re noticing small changes to your walls, these could be signs that a fresh coat should be imminent. For smaller issues you can take your time to find the issue, consider what you want, and take steps to fix the problem. Be careful, though; these can quickly become red flags.
“If you wait too long, the issue might grow and become more expensive to fix because the prep work needed could increase,” says Da Cruz.
Once your problem has evolved beyond warnings, the solution is likely to be expensive, especially if it’s not tackled soon. That’s why it’s a good idea to look for the following signs, and determine how quickly you need to act.
