Amazon confirmed to media outlets that it is laying off 200 employees, but there’s not enough information to know how it might impact roles interfacing with online sellers. An Amazon spokesperson providing outlets with the following statement:
“We’ve adjusted parts of our North America Stores team because we believe this structure will better enable us to deliver on our priorities. As part of these changes, we’ve made the difficult decision to eliminate a small number of roles, and we’re committed to supporting affected employees through their transition.”
According to Geekwire, “Amazon’s North America Stores is its core retail division, with teams across Prime, Amazon Private Brands, electronics, automotive, consumables and more.” The publication noted that Amazon had laid off 27,000 corporate employees in 2003 and laid off hundreds in 2024. CNBC reported that the current layoffs included employees in Amazon’s fashion and fitness business, among others.
The New York Post said roles impacted by the layoffs are expected to include account management, merchandising and data engineering.
