For under a million dollars, one can find all sorts of housing configurations: park- and subway-adjacent studios, one-bedrooms hidden in carriage houses or former shoe factories, and even the occasional true two-bedroom. We’re combing the market for particularly spacious, nicely renovated, or otherwise worth-a-look apartments at various six-digit price points.

This week, we have a one-bedroom full of mirrors in midtown and an affordable, income-restricted co-op in Williamsburg.

    17 West 54th Street No. 11D

The living room featured in this listing photo is perfect for someone who loves to look at themselves in the mirror.

This one-bedroom in the Rockefeller Apartments, just a few blocks south of Central Park, is perfect for someone who loves to look at themselves. (Or maybe a dancer?) Full-size mirrors line one of the walls in the combined living room and kitchen, plus more mirrored panels lead into the dining room’s curved windows. The apartment, with its Bauhaus quirks, is in a landmarked co-op and is south-facing — lots of natural light. Maintenance is high ($3,896) but includes a 24-hour doorman, a porter, a live-in resident manager, and private storage on your floor.

    279 1st Street No. 2C

This Park Slope apartment comes with a working fireplace, as shown in this listing photo.

A prewar apartment with multiple exposures (albeit some of them small). The nice part about this place is that it hasn’t been overly renovated, and what’s there is kind of classic — there’s a working fireplace, crown moldings, and hardwood floors. The kitchen and bathroom have been updated, but not in a way that will feel dated in a few years, plus there’s in-unit laundry. Monthlies are $867 and include basement storage. It’s closer to the Gowanus side of Park Slope, which means you are within walking distance of Whole Foods but outside the radius of the worst of the canal smells.

    82 Irving Place No. 4A

It could be you sitting and working at this built-in desk highlighted in this listing photo.
    Photo: Compass

A lovely, open apartment for someone who loves to sit at their built-in desk and work from home. The space is lined with bookshelves and, if you still have more books, six closets. The kitchen is small but includes nice appliances: a Miele dishwasher, De’Longhi range, and Liebherr refrigerator. It’s in a great location — half a block from Gramercy Park (although no mention of a key) — and located in the Gramercy Park Historic District. Monthlies are $1,583, and the price is lower than the median asking for the neighborhood.

    218 Scholes Street No. 12

The second of two bedrooms in this affordable Williamsburg co-op.

This is an HDFC co-op, so there are income requirements: You have to make less than $130,440 for one person and $149,160 for two people. But if you fit the bill, the newly renovated apartment, which includes new electrical and new windows, is a steal for a two-bedroom and seems nicely appointed. The best part of the listing is the kitchen with a beautiful wood-paneled refrigerator and dishwasher. Plus maintenance is super-affordable at $534.
