Ford has issued a tiny recall over a big problem. The issue affects just three 2024 F-150 pickups, but it can cause them to lose steering.
Ford tells federal safety regulators that factory workers mistakenly installed the wrong steering rack in the trucks. With the incorrect components, the pinion gear or rack teeth can break. That can cause the driver to lose steering control of the truck.
Ford knows precisely which vehicles were affected, so it should be able to contact owners quickly. The company says it has received no reports of accidents or injuries related to the problem, which was found in a factory inspection.
Dealers will replace the steering gear assembly to fix the problem.
As with all recalls, the repair is free.
