A more rugged Cross Country version of the Volvo EX30 electric crossover will arrive at U.S. dealerships later this year, Volvo confirmed on Monday.

Volvo has been applying the Cross Country name to its vehicles since 1997, and in 2023 said the EX30 would be the first all-electric model to use that name, showing a concept version of the EV in Cross Country trim. Volvo has now unveiled a production EX30 Cross Country to be sold alongside the standard version that launched in the U.S. last month.

The production EX30 Cross Country hasn’t changed much from the concept version. It still wears darkened front and rear panels, wheel arch extensions, and 18-inch wheels that can be fitted with all-terrain tires. Ground clearance is also increased compared to the standard EX30.

Skid plates are included as well, and Volvo plans to offer Cross Country Experience option packages with accessories like a roof basket, a load carrier, and mud flaps. That helps to make the exterior look more rugged, while the interior hews pretty closely to other versions of the EX30, which we’ve found don’t quite live up to the Volvo brand’s premium positioning.

A dual-motor powertrain will be standard, but Volvo hasn’t disclosed whether it will produce the same 422 hp and 400 lb-ft of torque as the current Twin Motor Performance powertrain. The Cross Country is also expected to use the same 69-kwh battery pack as other U.S.-market EX30 models, with the same ability to DC fast-charge from 10-80% in less than 30 minutes. But EPA range ratings will have to wait until closer to the Cross Country’s on-sale date.

That date will be sometime later this year, meaning the Cross Country will likely be considered a 2026 model. Pricing will be revealed closer to that time, but for reference the current 2025 Volvo EX30 Twin Motor Performance costs $46,195 in base Plus and $47,895 in higher-level Ultra forms, including a $1,295 destination fee.

The EX30 lineup is set to grow further with the introduction of a single-motor powertrain option that Volvo has said will knock the base price down to $36,245 with destination. This staggered launch follows a delay for the initial Twin Motor Performance models, which were originally due to arrive last summer but were pushed back following new tariffs.
