    Dive Brief:

    • Tailored Brands tapped Whit Alexander as executive vice president and chief customer officer on Tuesday. The retail company runs Men’s Wearhouse, Jos. A. Bank, K and G Fashion Superstore and Moores.
    • Alexander will step into the role Feb. 24 and report to Peter Sachse, Tailored Brands’ CEO. He will also serve on the company’s executive committee.
    • Alexander joins Tailored Brands with experience from Target, Best Buy and most recently as a partner at Mckinsey and Company. In his last role, Alexander advised consumer companies working on growth transformation.

    Dive Insight:

Tailored Brands is looking to Alexander to help grow the business, using marketing to engage customers. He will also oversee data and analytics as the company works to understand customer preferences.

Alexander will help Tailored Brands build personalized experiences and brand loyalty, according to Sachse.

“His well-rounded view of retail environments and insightful approach to commercialization within omnichannel environments will help us accelerate efforts to build personalized experiences that speak to our customers and achieve new levels of brand loyalty,” Sachse said in a statement.

Alexander is building on a career of executive leadership and work as a consultant helping businesses transform. Throughout his time at Best Buy, he oversaw strategy, marketing, personalization and loyalty. At Target, Alexander led guest insights, planning and marketing business intelligence through various roles.

Tailored Brands is working to turn things around. Last year, the company transitioned to having a single CEO, a role Sachse once shared with Bob Hull for three years. Hull remains involved with the company as executive chairman of the board. Tailored Brands filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy in 2020 and emerged from it a few months later.
