The era of affordable electric vehicles is just about here, with eight of the 10 cheapest EVs on the market starting below the $40,000 mark. Even better, the prices quoted here don’t include incentives, rebates, or other discounts, so your real-world purchase price could be even cheaper. If you’re wondering why the Volkswagen ID.4 isn’t on this list (the 2024 model would tie for tenth), it’s because the 2024 model is soon to be replaced by the 2025 model, which gets a significant price increase.
Here are 10 of the cheapest electric cars of 2025.
1. 2025 Nissan Leaf

Base price: $29,280
