Fourth-generation Australian jewelry designer, Margot McKinney has unveiled a brand new ‘In Residence’ pop-up space at the historic Bergdorf Goodman department store in New York City. Found on the first floor’s Jewelry Salon, this new space — which has been entirely custom-designed — lets visitors dive into the colorful work of Margot McKinney.

McKinney’s work is often inspired by the natural world and this latest collection is no exception, taking its cues from McKinney’s favorite gemstones, such as Australian South Sea pearls and Australian opals.

“I am thrilled and deeply honored to have the opportunity to present my art at the Margot McKinney ‘In Residence’ space, situated within the Jewelry Salon of the fabulously incomparable Bergdorf Goodman,” said the founder and owner.

“The chance to engage one-on-one with my wonderful collectors in the United States is a rare privilege, and I especially relish the fact that I can personally share the inspiration for my pieces with them, as well as the many fascinating stories of the people and places that have made each one possible,” shared McKinney.

Wanting to create a pop-up space that was immediately visually impactful while also paying homage to the brand’s flagship store in Brisbane, Australia, McKinney spent time working exceptionally closely with the team at Bergdorf Goodman.

The new space immediately signals McKinney’s unique style through the use of two dramatic open doors that flank the entrance, these have been finished in McKinney’s classic shade of Kelly green a tone that was initially inspired by the rainforests of Queensland.

The dramatic space also features a Spanish Colonial-style wall mirror finished in giltwood with mosaic inlays, a series of ornate wall lamps and even leopard print carpets. This decor all centers around a sizeable display case that houses Chinese ginger jars which have been popular with McKinney’s family for generations.

“At Bergdorf Goodman, we search the world to bring our discerning clients and friends the most exceptional discoveries in fashion and fine jewelry. Margot McKinney’s ‘In Residence’ is a shining example of this pursuit — her designs embody a rare and exquisite artistry, combining the world’s most extraordinary gemstones with an uncompromising eye for detail,” said Linda Fargo, senior vice president of women’s fashion and director of store presentation at Bergdorf Goodman.

“As a fourth-generation jeweler, Margot brings a legacy of excellence to every piece, creating treasures that transcend time. We are delighted to showcase her remarkable collection, where couture and craftsmanship unite in a dazzling celebration of beauty and individuality.”
