The glamorous extravaganza of The Plein Hotel switched to a country mood on the occasion of his fall women’s show. That’s because a Texas atmosphere and country music were the main inspirations for Plein this season, as well as Post Malone’s album F-1 Trillion, an exploration of the genre. The fully functioning mechanical bull placed in the middle of the big hotel hall was a clear indication of the theme, with models walking the runway to Beyoncé’s “Texas Hold ’Em.” It was another example of Plein exploring new aesthetics and adapting his flamboyance to have fun, as he put it right before the show.
The collection opener was full country, with a biker jacket adorned with stars and fringes, along with bejeweled cowboy hats and cropped T-shirts with the Plein logo overlapped on a fierce eagle, all made of strass and sequins. There were also country glam denim separates with laser printed baroque motifs or strass embellishment. The crystals galore were translated into an American flag that fully covered a pair of straight pants, and were applied on sparkling tracksuits. Even the flannel shirts were glamorized through a layer of transparent sequins. Then a series of lovely animals such as squirrels, rabbits, and fawns appeared in the form of patches on cardigans and jackets or as part of Plein’s monogram, or as intarsia on leather pieces. Eventually, the closing part of the show was dedicated to eveningwear with sensual, elongated silhouettes made of sequined long or super short gowns in audacious animalier motifs.
