Ford has issued a second recall for 141 Maverick pickups from model year 2022 over a software problem that can cause their brake lights to illuminate even when the driver doesn’t touch the brake pedal.
Ford recalled these trucks to fix this issue last year, installing new software to correct the problem. However, the company has since learned that the software tool dealers used for the upload was faulty and failed to properly install the update in some trucks. So, dealers need to try again.
They’ll install the same software update – it fixed the problem in most trucks – but use a new process to validate that the upload worked before returning trucks to owners.
