Ford has recalled 18,648 EcoSport subcompact SUVs because they can lose all drive power and the ability to stay still in Park.
Ford tells the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) that factory technicians may not have properly installed certain halfshafts into the vehicles’ transmissions. They can slip out of place, leaving the engine unable to power the car and the transmission unable to enter Park mode.
Dealers will inspect the halfshafts and replace them if necessary.
