The midsize sedan segment isn’t what it used to be, and over the next few years, there will be even fewer models to choose from. The Honda Accord is one of the most consistent family sedans year after year, and the 2025 model looks to uphold that reputation. While the Honda Accord maintains its stance as a likely segment leader, there are still other midsize sedans hot on its tail.

The 2025 Honda Accord sees a few major changes, the most notable of which is the SE model replacing the EX trim. Additionally, all Accord trims gain rear climate control vents and two USB-C ports. Hybrid trims also get a wireless phone charging pad added to their spec sheet.

Reason to love it #1: Value-driven family sedan

The 2025 Honda Accord LX starts at $28,295 and features a pretty sweet list of amenities for the money. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility come standard, as do a seven-inch touchscreen display and 10.2-inch driver information interface.

Upgrading to the first Honda Accord hybrid trim, the Sport Hybrid, will cost you $33,655, and you get plenty of additional features along with it. A 12.3-inch touchscreen display comes standard, and Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility goes wireless. A wireless phone charging pad makes the list of standard amenities as well.

Reason to love it #2: Standard 192-horsepower powertrain

The gas-only Honda Accord comes with plenty of pep thanks to its 1.5-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine mated to a CVT and front-wheel drive. That powertrain produces 192 horsepower and 192 lb-ft of torque. Those specs make the Accord a bit quicker than the Hyundai Sonata, which offers 191 horsepower and 181 lb-ft of torque.

If you opt for the hybrid powertrain, the Honda Accord rolls out with a 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine paired with two electric motors. It comes mated to an eCVT and front-wheel drive that together boast 204 horsepower and 247 lb-ft of torque.

Reason to love it #3: Safety tech comes standard

Available from $28,295, the 2025 Honda Accord is a value-oriented family sedan designed for consumers who have a strict budget. Even so, the midsize sedan comes equipped with Honda’s suite of standard safety systems.

The Honda Sensing suite includes driver-assistive features such as a Road Departure Mitigation System, Lane-Keeping Assist System, and Adaptive Cruise Control with Low-Speed Follow.

All trims except the base LX model come equipped with a Blind Spot Information System with a Cross-Traffic Monitor. For $39,300, you can upgrade to the range-topping Touring Hybrid, which features body-colored parking sensors and Low-Speed Braking Control.

Reason to love it #4: Up to 48 combined mpg

The 2025 Honda Accord comes with both gas and hybrid powertrain options. Drivers who want the highest fuel economy the midsize sedan has to offer will find the Accord EX-L Hybrid right up their alley. Available from $34,940, the EX-L Hybrid trim earns up to 51 city mpg, 44 highway mpg, and 48 combined mpg. Other hybrid trims are rated for 46 city mpg, 41 highway mpg, and 44 combined mpg.

Even the more budget-friendly Accord LX with its $28,295 MSRP offers competitive fuel economy. With a turbocharged four-cylinder engine, the ICE-only Accord can achieve up to 29 city mpg, 37 highway mpg, and 32 combined mpg.

That puts the Honda Accord a step above the Kia K5, which is rated for 26 city mpg, 37 highway mpg, and 30 combined mpg. The Kia K5 isn’t available with a hybrid powertrain, though.

Reason to think twice #1: No all-wheel drive option

Despite the Honda Accord’s popularity, the Japanese automaker has opted to only offer the midsize family sedan with a front-wheel drivetrain. That puts it behind almost every major competitor.

The Toyota Camry, Kia K5, and Nissan Altima all come with optional all-wheel drive. The Subaru Legacy, which will cease production after the 2025 model year, comes with standard all-wheel drive.

Reason to think twice #2: Hybrid trims can get pricey

There are plenty of benefits to hybrid powertrains, but the price increase can put the hybrid Accord out of reach for some consumers. The entry-level Sport Hybrid model is available from $33,655.

For the 2025 model year, the Toyota Camry comes with a standard hybrid powertrain for $28,700, putting it at a much lower price point compared to the hybrid 2025 Honda Accord. The Accord is also undercut by the 2025 Hyundai Sonata Hybrid, which starts at $31,250.

    Final thoughts

The 2025 Honda Accord is undoubtedly a solid family sedan, no matter your choice of powertrain. While the midsize sedan segment isn’t as popular as it once was, it’s still an incredibly heated competition. Before you buy a Honda Accord, check out the Toyota Camry and Hyundai Sonata.
