Mercedes-Benz has issued a recall for 2,943 vehicles from its high-performance AMG unit because the vehicles can lose all drive power.
The affected models all use AMG’s unique mild hybrid system, which uses an integrated high-voltage electric starter generator. Mercedes says a software problem can overload the processor that powers it. That could cause a sudden loss of propulsion.
Mercedes says drivers receive no warning before shutdown. Some have been unable to restart their cars after the fault.
