Jax Taylor is getting frank about his personal life.
On the March 20 episode of his podcast, In the Mind of a Man with Jax Taylor, The Valley cast member opened up about how he believes his “very conservative” and traditional upbringing led him to be more of a “late bloomer” with intimacy.
“Sex wasn’t really a big thing then,” he recalled about growing up in Shelby Township, Michigan. “I didn’t lose my virginity until I was 19. I was a late bloomer.”

Jax has been separated from his wife, Brittany Cartwright, since February 2024, and he’s dipped his toe back in the dating pond.
“I waited a little bit,” he said on his podcast about having sex again.
Though it’s been over a year since he split up from Brittany, Jax said he does not want to date anyone seriously.
“I am in no way, shape, or form interested in a relationship,” he said to podcast guest/sex therapist Dr. Emily Morse on the show. “Unfortunately, my ex-wife and I, we went our separate ways. So, of course when you come out — and this goes for her too — I want her to go out, explore, and have fun because it didn’t work for either of us. So, no, I’m not looking for a relationship right now, but at the same time [do you say], ‘I’m glad you’re here, I don’t want to date you, but let’s have sex?'”
The Vanderpump Rules alum is trying to turn over a new leaf in his post-separation dating life.
“I don’t want to lie to these girls, I just don’t want to hurt their feelings,” he continued. “It’s more about that.”
Jax Taylor talks about dating while sober
During an appearance on Bravo’s Hot Mic podcast in early March 2025, Jax confirmed that he was a few months sober from alcohol and cocaine.
On his podcast, he noted that it’s been challenging for him to navigate dating without drinking for the “first time.”
“Now, for the first time in my life, I am going out, and I am going on a date with no drinking. So there’s no buffer, OK? There’s no taking the edge off,” he explained, later adding that he used to feel like “the life of the party” on dates when he could have a drink.
“I’ve been going back and forth in my head like, ‘How the hell am I going to date?’ Because I’ve already turned down a couple people because I’m not comfortable with it. Like, I don’t know what to do,” the dad of one continued. “My guess is I’m going to have to start going for coffee, I think. And I’m also now that guy now who doesn’t drink.”
Jax said that he’s now trying to “rebrand” himself and be “a man of [his] word.”
