BMW has recalled 192 X3 SUVs from model year 2025 because their rear brake hoses can leak, causing their rear brakes to fail.
The front brakes alone are powerful enough to stop the car if that happens. In case of a rear brake failure, BMW says, the vehicle will also use its parking brake to help slow the car. However, the vehicle will require longer than normal braking distance with some brakes not working, which could lead to a crash.
BMW tells federal safety officials that a supplier may have failed to crimp some brake hoses properly. That could lead to a leak.
BMW is not aware of the problem happening to a customer. Engineers discovered it during regular brake testing at the factory.
Dealers will replace the brake hoses to fix it.
