Perkins Coie has stepped up to defend Amazon.com and its subsidiary, Amazon Advertising, in two landmark privacy class actions filed in Washington federal court that target the e-commerce giant’s use of software development kit technology to allegedly collect users’ geolocation data without their consent.
Perkins Coie partner Erin Earl, associate Jordan Harris, partner Nicola Menaldo and partner Ryan Spear entered appearances for Amazon in Albano v. Amazon.com and Maxwell v. Amazon.com from March 14-17 and from Feb. 28-March 4, respectively. Cotchett Pitre & McCarthy and Keller Rohrback filed the pending class actions in the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Washington in Seattle in early February.
Covington & Burling is representing Amazon in a similar class action filed by Edelson in January in San Francisco federal court.
