Ford Issues Repeat Recall Over Edge Backup Camera Problem – Kelley Blue Book

Ford has recalled 2,290 Edge SUVs from model years 2021-2022 a second time to fix a problem with their backup cameras.

The company recalled about 78,000 Edge models in 2022 to fix a software problem that could leave them with distorted backup camera images.

Ford has learned the update may have failed for some owners. The tool dealers use to update software sometimes reported a successful installation when an upload failed. As a result, the company must repeat dozens of old recalls this month.

Ford says it can determine which specific cars had a failed update and will contact owners to tell them whether to come back.

Dealers have a new process for installing the update and verifying installation that should prevent the issue from recurring.

Many vehicles face one or more recalls during their useful lives. Dealers attempt to contact every owner to ask them to bring their vehicle in for a free repair but they don’t always reach everyone. Check whether your car has ever been recalled with the easy VIN tool at our recall center.
