    European Commission Tells Spain Not to Pay €101M Arbitral Award in Long-Running Dispute over State Aid

    The European Commission has instructed Spain not to pay a €101 million arbitration award after concluding that it constitutes illegal state aid, the Commission announced this week.

    The long-running dispute involves two European companies that took the Kingdom of Spain to arbitration more than a decade ago over the country’s withdrawal of economic programs favoring clean energy investments.
