Walmart+ Sale to Take Place Months ahead of Prime Day

Walmart is holding its annual sale for members of its Plus membership program (Walmart+) the first week in May, which is more than two months before Amazon is expected to hold its annual Prime Day event in July.

Walmart+ Week will run from April 28 through May 4 and will offer Plus members exclusive rewards and offers, ranging from free sandwiches at Burger King to discounts at gas stations. Walmart will bring back comedian Beck Bennett in its marketing of the event. “Starting today, Bennett stars in marketing spots dishing out tips on how to maximize the value of exclusive Walmart+ Week benefits and membership offerings all year long,” according to Tuesday’s Walmart announcement.

In 2023, Walmart+ Week took place in July, overlapping with Amazon Prime Day. Last year, Walmart+ Week took place June 17 – 23, 2024, and it held another sale called Walmart Deals from July 8 – 11, 2024, which was a week before Amazon held its 2024 Prime Day (July 16 – 17). It appears likely that Walmart will also hold another Deals sale in July.

Amazon told sellers it would reveal the date of Prime Day 2025 in late June and said this year’s event would stretch over 4 days instead of two.

Both Amazon and Walmart are holding more frequent sales events, including spring sales. Walmart held its Super Savings Week from March 24 to April 1st, and Amazon held its Big Spring Sale March 25 – 31st. Often other marketplaces and retailers hold sales to capitalize on the sales.
