From gourmand-inspired colors of the year like Pantone’s Mocha Mousse to espresso and walnut-hued brunette flooring emerging as an interior trend, this year has been all about turning our homes into comforting cocoons.

Now, Febreze’s 2025 scent of the year, Vanilla Suede, is here to help us take that warm and snuggly feeling to the next level.

Febreze 2025 Scent of the Year: Vanilla Suede

    Febreze

Following up 2022’s bold and citrusy Ember, 2023’s fresh and nature-inspired Mountain, and 2024’s floral Romance and Desire, the brand’s fourth scent of the year is its coziest yet, and—in Febreze’s words—will “instantly transform any night at home into a luxurious staycation.”

Featuring notes of mahogany, gold amber, and smoked vanilla, Febreze’s Vanilla Suede is a versatile sweet and woodsy scent that feels nostalgic yet luxurious—like wrapping up in a chic cashmere blanket beside the fireplace.

Whether your home is a Scandi-style minimalist haven or a “newstalgic” blend of vintage and modern, Vanilla Suede is bound to bring a welcoming sense of warmth that complements your space’s aesthetic.

The new home fragrance is available in Febreze’s classic odor-eliminating bottle form, plug-ins compatible with both the classic Plug and Scent Booster, a fabric spray, and an electricity-free bathroom freshener, ensuring you can apply this scent in any form and any room of your home.

Why Vanilla Suede Is the Scent of the Year

To create each scent of the year, Febreze’s perfumers team up with trend forecasters to analyze exactly what experience we’re looking for in our homes; for 2025, it seems people are focused on slowing down, enjoying everyday luxuries, and embracing JOMO—the joy of missing out.

“Amidst the chaos of everyday life, we’re seeing a rise in self-indulgence and a desire to take back control of our spaces,” said Febreze master perfumer Rafael Trujillo in a press release. “People are looking for reasons to spend more time at home, whether that means hosting friends or curating the perfect night in, and Vanilla Suede helps them do just that: transform any space into a personal oasis.”

With the past couple of years seeing the romanticizing of quiet living and quiet luxury officially cementing itself in our spaces through spa sanctuary bathrooms and neutral color palettes, we’re spending more and more evenings at home than ever. So, the desire for a classic, yet decadent and inviting scent like Vanilla Suede comes as no surprise.

2025: The Year Of All Things Cozy

Febreze’s trend forecasting team wasn’t alone in anticipating elevated comfort as a theme in interior trends for 2025.

From Zillow’s predictions of snug-style living and dining rooms and nostalgic, library-inspired decor to the opulent and moody paint shades seen across the colors of the year from Pantone, C2, Behr, and more, it’s become clear that creating a space that reminds us of childhood comforts while also feeling luxurious and layered is the ultimate goal for this year.

By giving a smoky, woodsy twist to the classic vanilla smell associated with the feeling of taking a bite of our favorite sweet treats, the scent of the year captures everything we want from our design and decor through fragrance.

And just like Febreze and a fresh-smelling space go hand-in-hand, so does the scent of Vanilla Suede and the feeling of warmth and coziness we’re all looking to achieve in our homes.
