Every mirror in my apartment is boring. Over my dresser is a circular mirror. In the bathroom there’s an oval mirror. And by the front door there’s a small rectangular mirror above a key ring. No one has ever looked at a single one of those mirrors (myself included) and said, “wow, great mirror.”
But I have found the mirror that will elicit compliments. It’s a statement mirror in an Art Deco style—and it’s from IKEA.
My home’s style isn’t even Art Deco. But I am so excited about this mirror that I have planned a trip to drive an hour to the nearest IKEA to pick it up. It’s a unique, attractive statement mirror for under $100. I’m want to replace the signed football jersey hanging in the entryway with this scalloped Art Deco mirror.
IKEA LOMMARYD Mirror
IKEA
The LOMMARYD mirror has that classic Art Deco shape—geometric with stylized curves. It’s symmetrical and has arches on the top with straight lines at the sides, base, and interior. It’s reminiscent of a gemstone, a fountain, or a seashell.
It’s 26″ x 31.5″ so it’s the perfect size to go over an entryway table, in a hallway, or over a dresser. It would actually look great in a powder room, whose small size means that every decor piece needs to pack a punch.
It’s also massively on sale for the IKEA spring sale, from now until April 21.

Art Deco on the Rise
IKEA
Even if it’s not widely thought of as a trendy design style now, according to Google’s search trends Art Deco style has actually been rising in popularity for the last five years. I think my mirror and I are going to end up ahead of the curve on this one.
