Paige DeSorbo is a veteran Summer House cast member, and it turns out that there’s one thing few fans know about the series.
The fashionista, who has been part of the cast since Season 3, revealed as much when chatting with InStyle about why she “wish[es] they broke the fourth wall so much more” on the show.
“One thing that people don’t realize is how many people are at the house,” she told the outlet about how much goes into the production of the show. “There’s a whole basement that we’re never allowed in, which is where all the monitors, the cameras, and the producers are. Some of our camera operators and sound people have been with us since the first season. We’ve watched their lives also progress. We’ve watched them get married and have kids, and they’ve brought their kids to the house.”
As a result, she said, the cast has gotten close with those who work behind-the-scenes.
“There are so many more friendships on Summer House than people would ever even realize. The people who filmed Kyle [Cooke] and Amanda [Batula’s] engagement were specifically picked to film it because they had met them in Season 1,” she said about when Kyle popped the question in Season 3. “We really know them so well…”
Details on recent Summer House fourth wall breaks
While it is rare for viewers to see Paige and the rest of the House-mates break the fourth wall, it does happen from time to time.
Most recently, Carl Radke chatted with a producer about how he was nervous to see ex-fiancée Lindsay Hubbard on the Season 9 premiere.
He also broke the fourth wall on Season 8 when he chatted with Kyle and Amanda about being nervous to talk to have Lindsay watch back his conversation with his mom, Sharon Radke, and his stepdad, Lou.
Carl asked for there to be “no f—–g cameras” in Season 7 when he had a heated discussion with Danielle Olivera’s now ex-boyfriend, Robert Sieber, about his plans to propose to Lindsay.
Alum Luke Gulbranson previously broke the fourth wall at the Summer House Season 5 reunion when he was discussing his romance with Hannah Berner.
Does Paige DeSorbo watch Summer House?
When Summer House airs, Paige asks her mom, Kimberly DeSorbo, to watch so she can get the highlights.
“You know when you hear your own voice on a voicemail and you’re like, how does anyone speak to me? It’s that times ten…” she told InStyle. “So I send the episode to my mom, and I make her watch it first, and I say, let me know if there’s anything I should be aware of. I love myself, but not that much.”
