President Donald Trump signed two executive orders this week that would overhaul how the federal government pays for goods and services—a move the administration says will make the procurement process simpler and more efficient.
Trump on Tuesday ordered the Federal Acquisition Regulatory Council, in coordination with the Office of Management and Budget’s federal procurement policy division, to amend within 180 days the Federal Acquisition Regulation so that it contains only “provisions required by statute or essential to sound procurement.”
