Throughout nine seasons of Summer House, fans have seen Amanda Batula and Kyle Cooke’s relationship grow and blossom into the marriage and work partnership that it is today.
One thing that keeps coming up, however, is when the couple will decide to have kids. Or, now, is it an if?
On Season 9, Episode 12 Kyle and Amanda went out for a lunch date in NYC. There, Kyle opened up to Amanda about the recent health scare he’d encountered, which included his doctor flagging a “biomarker” in his bloodwork that may correspond to his fertility.
Per Kyle, the doctor wants him to take a fertility test for more definite answers.
“Can you imagine if I’m sterile?” the Loverboy founder asked.
“Is there a chance?” Amanda replied.
Kyle confirmed there was, and Amanda’s response was supportive, but maybe not entirely the way the up-and-coming DJ was expecting.

After taking a moment to process Kyle’s reveal, Amanda assured him that “it wouldn’t be the end of the world” if they couldn’t get pregnant, admitting she’s in a “weird place” in regards to getting pregant.
She continued, “Because, there’s some days where I feel like, Why am I not pregnant right now? What are we doing? Why are we wasting our time? There’s other days where I’m like, should I even have kids?”
When Kyle questioned how long she’d been feeling that way, Amanda confessed she had been for about a year.
Still, she stressed, it had nothing to do with Kyle.
“I think it’s just because of how much I’ve been struggling, how difficult it’s been to take care of myself sometimes, I’m like … ” she paused. “I’m not suited to take care of something else.”
Basically, Amanda summarized, she needed to prioritize maintaining her well-being before she’d be comfortable taking the next step.
Kyle was taken aback, but his response showed he was listening.
“I guess I just haven’t heard you vocalize” the possibility of their not having kids, he explained, “so I’m … trying to process.”
Amanda Batula reflects on her health journey
During a confessional interview, Amanda admitted to feeling “really lost” in 2023, adding, “I was struggling, professionally and mentally.”
However, things have turned around since then.
“The combination of me and Kyle being in just a really good place together, and putting myself out there, starting a swim line, and then being on medication, I’m starting to find myself again,” she said.
As a result, the swimwear designer is taking the time to “figure out who I am and what I want,” which is “very empowering.”
