DOJ Calls EO Against Perkins Coie ‘Lawful,’ Says It’s Reviewing Appellate Options


A week after a judge barred the federal government from enforcing President Trump’s executive order against Perkins Coie, the Justice Department told vendors that it still views the executive action as “lawful” and it’s pursuing avenues for appeal, according to an email obtained by Law.com.

In a Friday afternoon notice to Justice Department “commercial vendors,” the agency acknowledged the May 2 summary judgment decision for Perkins Coie but said “the position of the Executive Branch is that issuance of Executive Order was lawful and implementing its directives permissible.”
