Slated to open on May 15, 2025, Pueblo Bonito Vantage Centro Histórico Mazatlán, situated in the heart of Mazatlán’s Old Town, is the first of a collection of boutique properties that will redefine luxury hospitality throughout Mexico. Occupying a renovated school building a short walk from Plaza Machado, the landmark town square, and the Malecon, a 13-mile promenade along the Pacific, the hotel sits among 19th-century architectural marvels.

The hotel’s design, combining Old World charm and modern elegance, was created by Victor de Rueda, a prominent Mexican design firm. Their combining the highest-quality materials and objets d’art strikes the perfect balance between sophistication and comfort. Aromatherapy-infused lobbies and suites add a sensory touch to the welcoming atmosphere.

Each of the 24 guest rooms embodies handmade luxury and artisanal detail. High-beamed ceilings, curated textiles, and bespoke furnishings create a sense of serenity. In-room amenities include a Nespresso machine, plant-based bath products by Vervan, plush bathrobes, and comfortable slippers.

Pueblo Bonito Vantage’s Aromatika Spa offers personalized wellness experiences, from revitalizing facials to rejuvenating massages. Among the other on-site amenities are a beautiful central plaza plus a library, fitness center, pool and Jacuzzi, and a trendy lobby shop.

Guest services include concierge, complimentary Wi-Fi, 24-hour in-room dining, a multilingual staff, and access to the facilities and beaches at nearby Pueblo Bonito Resorts. Hotel guests can also join organized tours of Mazatlán’s historic district, take self-guided tours of the city’s art galleries, and enjoy performances at the historic Teatro Ángela Peralta.

A Vantage Host will assist guests upon check-in and serve as a receptionist, concierge, and butler, elevating service to the next level.

The hotel’s dining and beverage program is surprisingly eclectic. Breakfast and lunch are served in indoors or out at Melville, named for Moby Dick author Herman Melville, who visited Mazatlán in 1844 as a sailor. At night, Melville transforms into an elegant dining experience, serving gourmet Mexican fusion cuisine.

Biblioteca is a refined, multi-use space that’s ideal for private dining occasions, chef-curated experiences and quiet moments with a cup of coffee. It’s a perfect hideaway for connection and creativity.

Pueblo Bonito Vantage’s 1880 Bar showcases a curated selection of Mexican wines alongside international vintages. Expert mixologists can craft a variety of specialty cocktails and mocktails, from the classic Martini Gibson to the Mezcalinas cocktail.

And as a special bonus, hotel guests are invited to dine at Casa 46, a nearby restaurant-museum that details the city’s history in words and pictures. Operated by Pueblo Bonito Resorts, this home of fine-dining features regional Mexican and Mazatlán cuisine influenced by the many different cultures that settled the city. A spacious upstairs terrace overlooks the Machado Plaza.

Eight major U.S. gateways offer direct flights to Mazatlán, including Chicago, Dallas, Denver, and Phoenix. Tijuana, readily accessible to residents in San Diego and Orange counties, also has direct flights to the “Pearl of the Pacific.”

The second Vantage property, Pueblo Bonito Vantage San Miguel de Allende, is scheduled to open this summer in Mexico’s central highlands. This ultra-luxe development showcases beauty and elegance, with the finishes, furniture, and materials featuring a handmade ethos.

The 111-room hotel is a 10-minute walk from San Miguel de Allende, one of the most historic urban centers in Mexico. Recognized by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site, the city’s distinctions can be traced to its architectural contributions to the Mexican Baroque and to its importance in the struggle for the country’s independence from Spain. Renowned for its well-preserved architecture, thriving arts scene, and cultural festivals, this charming colonial-era city has been called the “World’s Best City” by Travel + Leisure.

Arquitectura de Interiores and its president, Marisabel Gómez, were in charge of carrying out the project. “The luxury of Pueblo Bonito Vantage San Miguel de Allende is in the details,” Gomez stated. “Our concept and storytelling is that luxury is handmade, like this beautiful city where the new hotel will premiere.”

In every way, this boutique hideaway reflects the elegance of contemporary Mexican design. Multicolored, with a Moorish influence, the property’s exquisite fabrics and artifacts were curated to envelop guests and visitors.

For example, Gomez noted that the hotel’s entry hall and its spectacular wooden gates create a “visual layering” effect and a genuine “wow” factor. Guests can see through and beyond the gates to the spires of the landmark church, the iconic Parroquia de San Miguel Arcángel; and the Convent of the Most Pure Conception (Las Monjas).

According to Katherine Pullen-Locket, director of interior design for Pueblo Bonito Resorts, “We wanted to create a totally different ambience for the new Vantage brand. Throughout the interior design process, we tried to capture the essence and charm of a historic city. Nearly all the décor in the hotel is a modern twist on an authentic San Miguel de Allende design style. We pay homage to this magical place, but not everything is expected as if on cue. There’s some whimsy, but it’s sophisticated and fresh.”

Expect a “sensation of smells” to perk up the hotel’s entry area, from fresh coffee and pastries in the morning to hors d’oeuvres and wine in the afternoon sourced from local vineyards. Listen, too, for the sounds of local musicians.

The work of several local artists is displayed throughout the hotel and in the restaurants. “We wanted the hotel to feel like an extension of one of the city’s art galleries, where guests can buy a painting they see and like,” Pullen-Locket said.

Designed with a residential feel, the guest rooms have terraces offering views of the hotel’s lush gardens and the city’s prominent landmarks, including the domes and spires of centuries-old churches. Accommodations feature custom lighting fixtures and Bose sound systems along with L´Occitane bath products (Bulgari in suites), bathrobes, a pillow menu, a Nespresso coffee machine, and an electric kettle. Pet-friendly accommodations are also available.

LaFrida, a gourmet Mexican restaurant, provides an unparalleled gastronomic experience, offering a show in coals and fire as well top-of-the-line wines and cocktails. The setting, with its bold raspberry-colored walls and antique Venetian mirrors, is unique and sophisticated. After dark, V Rooftop Terrace serves up fine views of the city’s skyline along with artisanal drinks and tapas.

Aromatika Spa, a serene sanctuary of wellness, invites guests to embark on a journey of self-discovery. The extensive list of holistic treatments includes facials, massages, and full body treatments. There are also single and double treatment rooms and a hydrothermal circuit. The name “Aromatika” honors the scents of San Miguel, notably lavender, rosemary, mint, fennel, and sage, as well as the subtle aromas of wine-based therapies and exclusive skin care products.

As in Mazatlan, a Vantage Host will assist guests upon check-in and organize activities outside the hotel, serving each visitor as receptionist, concierge, and butler.

Finally, the V Life of Pueblo Bonito Vantage offers guests a variety of programming based on four pillars: gastronomy, culture/art, history, and nature/lifestyle. V Life’s curated activities range from sommelier-guided wine and tequila tastings to guided cultural walking tours and Pilates classes.

Two regional airports, approximately 1.5 hours away, serve San Miguel de Allende: Leon (BJX) and Querétaro (QRO). Transportation is available through the hotel. San Miguel de Allende is located 175 miles northwest of Mexico City.
