Audi Recalls Q5, Q5 Sportback Over Oil Leak

Audi has recalled 89,417 Q5 and Q5 Sportback SUVs from model years 2022-2024 because of an oil leak that could lead to a vehicle fire.

The company tells federal safety officials that cylinder head cover screws in their engines can loosen over time, letting oil seep out. If oil comes into contact with hot engine parts, that could trigger a fire.

Audi says it knows of no deaths or injuries due to the problem, but 11 “potentially related thermal event cases” and more than 2,500 warranty claims.

Dealers will fix the problem by inspecting the cylinder head cover and tightening any loose screws. If necessary, they’ll replace them.
