Albertsons Companies, Inc. is expanding its business-to-business (B2B) offers through a new partnership with the payments and invoicing network TreviPay, enabling corporate customers to pay for online purchases using 30-day net terms.

The program, which it announced in May, aimed at organizations including K–12 schools, local governments, residential programs, and small businesses that make recurring or high-volume grocery purchases.

Through the Pay by Invoice program, Albertsons’ business customers will be able to access a dedicated line of credit and manage purchasing through a self-service portal. The platform allows buyers to assign spending limits, approve purchasers, and track invoices and payments in real time. That streamlines the financial management process for multi-user organizations.

Albertsons is No. 19 in the Top 2000 Database. The database ranks North America’s top online retailers by their annual ecommerce sales.

The partnership covers Albertsons Companies’ full family of grocery banners, including Albertsons, Safeway, ACME, Jewel-Osco, Shaw’s, Star Market, Vons, Pavilions, Tom Thumb and Randall’s.

“Retailers are well-versed in loyalty best practices for consumers, but to reach and retain business buyers, invoicing and payment terms are critical,” said Brandon Spear, CEO of TreviPay. “Enabling Albertsons’ business customers to pay by invoice allows their corporate buyers to make large, repeat orders using their preferred payment method, while retailers eliminate the complexities of accounts receivables and fuel growth.”

Albertsons expects the offer to improve convenience for business customers while reducing administrative strain.

“We’re committed to enhancing the purchasing experience and providing options for both small and large business customers,” said Anne Coyne, senior director of B2B strategy and growth at Albertsons. “TreviPay’s invoicing program offers the control to customize purchasing hierarchies and the convenience of paying using credit lines, which we know are important to this buyer segment.”

TreviPay says it facilitates more than $7 billion in global trade annually. It also says it manages credit decisioning, invoice generation, and payment tracking on behalf of its retail partners. In doing so, the company assumes the credit risk associated with the buyer. That allows sellers like Albertsons to receive payment immediately without managing collections or allocating back-office resources to accounts receivable.

A 2024 survey conducted by Murphy Research on behalf of TreviPay found that 72% of business buyers are more loyal to vendors offering preferred payment methods, and more than half would switch to a retailer offering net terms.
