Do blondes really have more fun? Well, Meredith Marks tries to find out in the above preview of Next Gen NYC‘s premiere episode.
Although we’ve mostly only ever known Meredith as a brunette on The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City, in the preview of the Next Gen NYC episode (set to air June 3 at 9/8c), the jewelry designer and boutique owner decides to change up her look with a platinum blonde wig as she and son Brooks Marks do a photoshoot.
“You like it?” she asks Brooks, who replies, “Yeah, but you need a name. You’re Marla.”
Meredith’s new hair is so dramatically different that she catches Brooks’ friends Ava Dash and Charlie Zakkour off guard when they stop by the set.
“I’m Marla, Brooks’ executive assistant,” Meredith says. Unfazed, Charlie introduces himself in return while Ava stays silent. Finally, Ava says with a laugh, “I’m getting scared,” and hugs Meredith.
“I didn’t fool you?” Meredith asks, to which Ava responds, “No, I recognize that face.”
Charlie, however, admits, “She, like, completely convinced me.”
Meredith Marks’ hair changes over the years
Although she’s never gone full blonde, Meredith dabbled with lighter locks in January 2023, which she called “caramel brown,” but the hairstyle was short lived.
“Miss it already,” Meredith commented on her Instagram post with the look.
It was a big departure from when she first appeared on RHOSLC with long, chestnut waves. She later did a chop and styled her straight, sleek shoulder-length hair for her December 2020 Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen appearance.
She took a gamble when she rocked fringe clip-on bangs for Mary Cosby’s Audrey Hepburn-inspired party during Season 5, which prompted Mary to comment, “Meredith looked like Flintstones.”
Meredith most recently did another color change in April 2025, when she and “the best colorist in New York City” showed off her brunette style with hints of red.

While Meredith’s new blonde ‘do is a fun change, she and Brooks are focused on business in the clip above.
“I am a model, clothing designer, entrepreneur, activist, and, I mean, on top of all of that, I’m a member of the Marks family, which is a full time job.” Brooks explains. “I also serve as the creative director of my mom’s company. I love my mom. She’s amazing, but it definitely does feel like you’re living in someone’s shadow.”
After joking that Meredith is stealing his spotlight during the duo’s photoshoot, Brooks says with a laugh, “My next goal is a magazine cover without my mom.”
Brooks, a budding fashion designer when RHOSLC started, quickly made his mark in the industry, designing a tracksuit that was worn by Andy Cohen on WWHL, as well as a blazer. Today, his brand includes athleisure items such as pants, sweatshirts, shorts, hats, socks, and more.
