The Home Depot has promoted Angie Brown to executive vice president and chief information officer (CIO), underscoring the company’s deepening focus on digital innovation and ecommerce acceleration.
Angie Brown, CIO, Home Depot
A 27-year veteran of the company, Brown succeeds Fahim Siddiqui, who helped modernize the retailer’s IT infrastructure during his tenure. As CIO, Brown will oversee the company’s technology strategy across 2,350 stores, 800 distribution branches, and a rapidly evolving digital ecosystem that now accounts for over $21 billion annual sales.
Brown has steadily built her career within The Home Depot, starting as a systems analyst in the late 1990s. Over three decades, she has led initiatives in software development, enterprise architecture, and IT operations. Most recently, as senior vice president of information technology, she spearheaded enhancements in merchandising analytics, customer personalization, and real-time supply chain visibility.
The Home Depot Inc. ranks No. 4 in the Top 2000 Database. The Digital Commerce 360 database ranks North America’s largest online retailers by their annual ecommerce sales. Home Depot is also the top-ranked retailer in the Top 2000’s Hardware & Home Improvement category.
About the new Home Depot CIO
Her work has been pivotal in strengthening Home Depot’s omnichannel capabilities — particularly in the rollout of services like buy online, pick up in store (BOPIS), curbside pickup, and digital checkout. All those services gained massive traction during the pandemic and have since become central to the retailer’s go-to-market strategy.
“Angie’s deep knowledge of our systems, customers, and store operations, paired with her history of leading transformative change, makes her the ideal leader for this next chapter,” said Ted Decker, chair, president, and CEO of The Home Depot. “Her ability to connect technology with real customer needs has helped us reimagine the home improvement experience.”
Brown’s appointment comes at a critical juncture for Home Depot. The company has been investing heavily in digital infrastructure through its “One Home Depot” initiative. The strategy is a multi-year, $11 billion modernization effort that it launched in 2018. That investment has transformed how the retailer integrates its physical and digital operations, allowing it to meet rising customer expectations and maintain a competitive edge against both traditional rivals and online-first disruptors.
In fiscal 2024, Home Depot online sales surpassed $21 billion. Home Depot fulfilled half of those orders through stores, illustrating the growing importance of a seamless online-to-offline experience. Under Brown’s leadership, the company has also:
- Launched AI-powered search tools
- Expanded professional-grade services for contractors
- Rolled out platform-wide inventory transparency
“Angie is not just a technologist — she’s a strategic thinker who understands how our digital and physical worlds intersect,” Decker added. “She’s built and led teams that deliver innovation at scale, and we’re excited for what’s next.”
In her new role, Brown will also guide the company’s efforts in AI and machine learning, cybersecurity, and end-to-end supply chain optimization — key pillars of Home Depot’s plan to meet the evolving demands of today’s customers and contractors alike.
