Gopinath Polavarapu
Procurement software provider JAGGAER has appointed Gopinath “GP” Polavarapu as its first chief digital and AI officer, a newly created executive role focused on accelerating the company’s artificial intelligence strategy across both product development and internal operations.
The move signals a major step forward in JAGGAER’s push into “Agentic AI,” a term it uses to describe autonomous software agents that perform procurement tasks with minimal human intervention. Backed by private equity firm Vista Equity Partners, JAGGAER is aiming to redefine enterprise procurement by embedding advanced AI throughout its end-to-end source-to-pay platform.
Polavarapu joins JAGGAER from conversational AI firm Kore.ai, where he served as chief solutions officer. He brings experience in AI-powered enterprise automation and product strategy. In his new role, he will spearhead the
by organizations worldwide for contract lifecycle management, spend analytics, and supplier collaboration.
“As chief digital and AI officer, I’ll focus on embedding fine-tuned language models and agentic workflows into the platform to drive autonomous actions,” Polavarapu said in a statement. “We aim to move from decision support to real-time automation that reduces costs and improves compliance across procurement.”
While JAGGAER has long offered AI-driven features such as contract data extraction and predictive analytics, this latest shift represents a deeper investment in automation. Polavarapu is tasked with building a Center of Excellence for AI, recruiting talent, and guiding product teams as they roll out new capabilities like autonomous spend analysis, contract intelligence, and invoice processing.
JAGGAER, which employs 1,200 people, serves customers across industries including manufacturing, healthcare, and higher education. Its platform plays a key role in B2B e-commerce by helping enterprises digitize procurement operations, streamline supplier integration, and manage complex purchasing at scale.
Interim CEO Yancey Spruill said the appointment is part of a broader initiative to modernize the procurement lifecycle with next-generation AI.
With Polavarapu at the helm of its AI strategy, JAGGAER is positioning itself as a leader in what it calls “autonomous commerce”—a future where AI systems manage enterprise buying decisions and supplier relationships with increasing independence.
