Lincoln has issued a recall for 30,679 Nautilus SUVs from model year 2024 because their display screens can reboot while driving, leaving drivers without crucial information like speed and safety warnings.
The Nautilus has one of the largest screens in the automotive business, a huge door-to-door panoramic unit across the top of the entire dashboard. It’s far from the driver near the windshield, but controlled by a smaller touchscreen within reach.
Lincoln says it can reboot without warning, temporarily blacking out while it does so. Since the screen is the only tool drivers have to see their speed and critical safety warnings, that creates a hazard.
Lincoln is unaware of any accidents related to the issue, but has received at least 1,129 warranty claims.
Dealers will fix the issue with a software update. Most Nautilus SUVs receive software updates over the air, so owners won’t need to bring them in to have the patch installed. However, some owners may have opted out of automatic updates and will need to visit a dealership to have the software installed.
