Bob Odenkirk didn’t win a Tony for his Broadway debut this year, but he did pick up a New York prize (of sorts) this month: a Clinton Hill two-bedroom at the Francine Towers, a turn-of-the-century co-op on Washington Avenue. City records show that the actor paid $1.3 million for the apartment, preempting a potential bidding war by offering 10 percent over the asking price. His wife Naomi and 24-year-old daughter, Erin, an illustrator who went to Pratt, which is just down the street, are also on the property transfer, which likely means the apartment will be for the latter.

The apartment is bright and airy, a corner unit on the top floor with great light and views looking “out over Pratt and the townhouses of Clinton Hill,” according to listing broker Elizabeth Stile of Stile Real Estate. “It was a very beautiful apartment,” she added, explaining that the seller, an Italian who bought it nearly 20 years ago (Stile was involved in that transaction, too), “had a flair.” While the apartment is pretty straightforward design-wise, it has some fun touches: a kitchen with bright-yellow counters, a wall of built-in bookshelves and cabinets in the second bedroom (used as a den/library), and a number of nice, classic prewar features (wood floors, moldings, high ceilings). “The buyers were the first to step up to the plate — I only had to do one open house,” says Stile, explaining that “two bedrooms in Clinton Hill/Fort Greene are a prized possession at this point.”

One of the co-op’s two bedrooms, as shown in listing photos, has been set up as a den/library, with built-in bookshelves and cabinetry.

Odenkirk, who owns a Spanish-style house in the Hollywood Hills, is something of an honorary New Yorker. He got his start as a writer on Saturday Night Live in 1987, and a friendship with New York’s own David Cross led to their cult sketch hit, Mr. Show. A breakout role on Breaking Bad brought more widespread recognition and led to the spinoff Better Call Saul, then to his Broadway debut in Glengarry Glen Ross. Next, Odenkirk will be starring in the sequel to the 2021 action movie Nobody, in which he played a retired assassin trying to go on vacation with his family.

The kitchen, as shown in listing photos, has eye-catching yellow countertops and views of Clinton Hill.

In 2017, he and his wife Naomi bought a one-bedroom apartment at 14 Horatio Street, a somewhat charmless postwar co-op in West Village. In 2022, city records show that they purchased the studio apartment next door, presumably eying a combo. The couple still own their West Village place, so it seems likely that this new one is for their Pratt graduate daughter, who recently published her first book.

The bedroom is bright and airy, as shown in listing photos. The apartment is a top-floor corner unit.
