CFPB’s Enforcement Chief Quits, Saying Agency Has ‘No Intention to Enforce the Law’


The Consumer Financial Protection Bureau’s top enforcement official quit Tuesday, saying her job is meaningless as the Trump administration dismantles the agency.

Acting CFPB Enforcement Director Cara Petersen, in a searing resignation email to CFPB staff, wrote she could no longer stay under an administration that “has no intention to enforce the law in any meaningful way.”
