    • Hyundai released photos of its upcoming high-performance Ioniq 6 EV
    • No details yet, but it’s almost certainly similar to the 641-horsepower Ioniq 5 N

Hyundai will release a high-performance version of its curvy Ioniq 6 sedan for 2026 called the Ioniq 6 N.

The company released teaser photos today showing the car in heavy shadow. They reveal little, but we know exactly what to expect.

The company did the same with its Ioniq 5 last year. The Ioniq 5 and Ioniq 6 share almost all the parts that make them go. So, the Ioniq 6 N will almost certainly share the Ioniq 5 N’s upgrades.

    What Sets an N Apart

    • It’s likely nearly identical to the Ioniq 5 N
    • That means drift mode, launch mode, and even simulated shifts

If the Ioniq 5 N is a guide, expect a lot of power and a lot of touchscreen menus to adjust nearly every aspect of the 6 N’s performance.

The standard Ioniq 6 has between 149 and 320 horsepower, depending on trim level and options. The standard Ioniq 5 has very similar numbers.

But the Ioniq 5 N has up to 641. It also has one of the most complicated, customizable interfaces of any car for sale today. You can adjust power to each axle, engage launch and drift modes, track G forces and lap times, and more. You can select from a full menu of sounds, including sci-fi whooshes and fake engine growls. There’s even a mode that simulates shifting through steering-wheel-mounted paddle shifters.

Hyundai says three principles guided its development – “Corner Rascal, Racetrack Capability, and Everyday Sports Car.”

It uses the same language in the announcement that the Ioniq 6 is coming. So we expect nearly identical performance in the 6’s sleek, “streamliner” body.

    Aerodynamic Enhancements

    • Photos hint at flared fenders and a big wing on struts

The photos are dark, but suggest significant aerodynamic upgrades. Chief among them is a real rear wing on struts. Hyundai says it also has flared fenders for a wider stance.

We’ll know more next month. Hyundai says the car will make its first public appearance at England’s Goodwood Festival of Speed, starting July 10.
