Introduction
The 2022 Forte is a compact sedan from Kia designed to give buyers a sweet combination of form and function. Aimed at a comfortable passenger experience at an affordable price, the 2022 Kia Forte competes in a solid class of compact sedans. A few of its strengths include frugal fuel economy, user-friendly technology, and a roomier interior than you might expect in a small car. While some heavy hitters, like the Toyota Corolla, Nissan Sentra, and the Honda Civic, remain class leaders, the Forte shines with modern styling and abundant value-added features.

KBB Review Highlights
Replacing the Kia Spectra in 2010, the Kia Forte is the South Korean automaker’s answer to the small car question. Known for its modern good looks, efficient engines, and easy-to-access features, the Kia Forte offers buyers a nicely equipped option at a brilliant price point. Kia gave the Forte a midcycle refresh in 2022, making it a good model year to shop for. In addition to aesthetic tweaks inside and out, the 2022 update brought standard wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, an available 10.25-inch screen (the standard screen measures eight inches), and a new Technology Package available for the sporty GT and GT-Line models.
In addition to the aforementioned infotainment tech features, some standard safety features include driver attention warning, automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection, lane-following assist, lane-keep assist, and rear occupant detection. A few of the premium options available in this affordable compact include a Harman Kardon premium audio system, a wireless charging pad, a power sunroof, adaptive cruise control, and heated/ventilated front seats.
With a spacious interior and a nice mix of convenience and safety features, the 2022 Kia Forte is available in four trims and two engine options. Aimed at efficiency rather than power, the FE, LXS, and GT-Line use a 2.0-liter 4-cylinder that generates 147 horsepower and returns up to 35 mpg combined. The sporty Forte GT (available with a manual transmission) gets a turbocharged 1.6-liter 4-cylinder engine that delivers 201 hp and gets up to 30 mpg combined, comparable to the legendary Honda Civic Si. All models use front-wheel drive (FWD).
