Lincoln has issued a second recall for just eight Aviator SUVs from model years 2020 and 2021 because they may not have been properly repaired under an earlier recall.
The company recalled about 3,000 Aviator models in 2023 because their batteries could short-circuit. Dealers fixed the issue, in part, with a software update.
But the company has since learned that the system dealers used to update software could occasionally log a successful update even when the process failed. Lincoln can identify which vehicles weren’t properly repaired. So the company needs owners to bring those in for a second update. A new process will ensure that the update works.
