Ford and its Lincoln luxury marque have issued a second recall for an old problem affecting 426 Navigator and Expedition SUVs from model year 2020.
The companies recalled about 25,000 SUVs in 2020 to fix a software problem that could keep some Pre-Collision Assist safety features from working properly.
Dealers installed a software update that fixed the problem for most. But the company has since learned that the tool dealers use to update software could occasionally report success even when it failed.
Ford can identify which vehicles had a failed upload, and it has a new tool that lets dealers verify a successful installation. So, the company needs some owners to bring their cars back to have the same update installed a second time.
