Ford has issued a recall for 154 Explorer SUVs, F-150 pickups, and Transit vans from model year 2025 because they could suffer engine failure. All of the recalled vehicles are equipped with 3.3-liter or 3.5-liter V6 engines.
Those engines, Ford tells federal safety regulators, “may have a mis-machined connecting rod.” It could come out of alignment, which could “lead to reduced motive power while driving, followed by an engine stall, increasing the risk of a crash. After the stall, the engine may not crank or restart,” Ford says.
Ford says it is still developing a remedy, which could involve replacing major engine components. When it comes, it will be free.
By law, dealers never charge for recall repairs.
