eBay Sellers Have Problems Accessing Product Research

eBay Sellers Have Problems Accessing Product Research

Sellers are reporting problems accessing eBay Product Research, formerly called Terapeak. In the past week or so, there have been reports of incomplete data, and on Friday, there were reports from sellers that they could not access the tool at all.

On June 13, a seller said they tried to bring up most recent sales for some products, but the tool only brought back a page of results, and in some cases, no results at all.

Another seller responded on June 18 that the most recent sales for their searches didn’t display anything more recent than June 14. “Just wish there was some way to report it or someone at eBay to acknowledge the issue,” they wrote.

On June 16, a reader reported the following problem via Ecommerce EKG: “Some sold items are not showing in product research.” The seller returned on June 20 to report they couldn’t access the tool at all: “”Product research” is down. “Our server failed to respond to your query. Please try again later.””

Also on June 20, a thread about an outage in 2024 resurfaced when a seller responded to the older comments and said they were having the same problem, explaining they could no longer research product values in one session. “I either have to wait until the next day or use the eBay app, which provides much less information, and I have to exclude A LOT of listings manually since there isn’t a price range filter.”

eBay did not add anything about problems with Product Research on its thread dedicated to reporting Technical Issues, but it hasn’t been updated since June 3rd.

It’s a testament to the value of eBay’s Product Research tool that sellers are upset when it doesn’t work as it should or experiences an outage.
