Ford and its Lincoln luxury division have recalled 6,781 vehicles equipped with engine block heaters because the devices can overheat and catch fire.
Recalled models include some, but not all, examples of the:
- 2023, 2025 Lincoln Corsair
- 2024-2025 Lincoln Nautilus
- 2025 Ford Maverick
- 2023-2025 Ford Escape
- 2025 Ford Bronco Sport
The fire risk exists only when the heater block is plugged in, Ford says.
Dealers will replace the engine block heater with a model of a different design to reduce the fire risk.
Recall repairs are always free.
Automakers recall many cars to fix safety defects, sometimes more than once. They try to contact every owner to ask them to bring the vehicle in for repair, but they rarely reach them all. Millions of vehicles on American roads need free recall repairs. To find out if your car is one of them, check the easy VIN tool at our recall center.
