Walmart is kicking off its annual July sales event on July 8 and it will run for 6 days, compared to Amazon Prime Day which also kicks off on July 8 but runs for 4 days.
Another difference between the retail giants’ July sales: Amazon Prime Day offers sales primarily for members of its Amazon Prime membership plan, while Walmart Deals is open to all shoppers. However, Walmart is giving members of its Walmart+ membership plan early access (“first dibs”) to the event: “Walmart+ members will get Early Access to Walmart’s Deals event starting July 7 at 7:00 p.m. ET, offering exclusive event shopping before opening to all customers.”
Walmart did run a Plus members-only sale in the spring. Walmart+ Week ran from April 28 through May 4 and offered Plus members exclusive rewards and offers. (Amazon held a Big Spring Sale March 25 – 31st open to all shoppers.)
Another difference between Walmart Deals and Amazon Prime Day is that Walmart customers can shop the 6-day sale both in-store and online: “Deals will kick off online at 12 a.m. ET on July 8 and in stores at local opening time.”
Walmart published a press release with information about Walmart Deals sale this morning.
