- Nissan has added a high-performance NISMO model to its full-size Armada SUV
- It adds 35 horsepower, tighter steering, and a louder exhaust
High-performance versions of ordinary cars are all the rage this year. Even full-size SUVs are getting in on the trend.
Nissan this week unveiled a retuned version of its Armada full-size SUV from the brand’s NISMO performance shop. Nissan has not announced pricing. The 2025 Armada starts at $58,530, but don’t expect to see a NISMO model for under $80,000.
We’re accustomed to NISMO models of sporty cars, like the little Z coupe or the recently retired GT-R. The 3-row Armada, with its 8,500-pound towing capacity, makes a strange candidate for the NISMO treatment.
Engineers did the obvious to make it quicker: boosting power. The NISMO Armada uses the same 3.5-liter V6 as other Armada models but gets 35 more horsepower from it, for a total of 460 hp (when using premium gas).
They also tightened the electric power steering and retuned the optional adaptive air suspension to hold it flatter in corners.
“Completing the dynamic upgrades, NISMO-specific forged wheels shod in NISMO-exclusive high-performance tires deliver greater traction and responsiveness,” Nissan says.
They’ll be easy to spot. Like other NISMO models, the hyped-up Armada gets a thin line of red all around under the bodywork. A unique grille, new side steps, and a roofline spoiler complete the look.
Inside, “ NISMO touches include adjustable bolsters for the front seats, aluminum pedals, and quilted leather-appointed seats with red accents,” Nissan says.
