    • The 2025 Lexus NX continues to be a standard bearer for the segment
    • The NX is one of the least expensive compact luxury SUVs while boasting a smooth ride and strong new cabin technology

The 2025 Lexus NX is three years removed from a makeover, yet it remains one of the most attractive vehicles in its class. Competing with the likes of the Cadillac XT4, Lincoln Corsair, Infiniti QX50, Audi Q5, and Acura RDX means it’s in a tough segment, but it’s still the leader. With a slew of trim levels and a starting price among the most affordable in its class, it’s easy to see why the NX is so popular. It features four powertrain options: two gas, one hybrid, and one plug-in hybrid (plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV), with power outputs ranging from 203 to 302 horsepower. On the inside, it’s standard Lexus: great materials combined with leading technology and a sensible layout.

Let’s take a look inside the 2025 Lexus NX.

    Passenger Room and Comfort

Lexus sets itself apart from other luxury automakers with its quiet, serene cabins, and that’s true of the NX. This compact ute seats five passengers and features perhaps the most comfortable driver’s seat of any compact luxury SUV. To make the driving experience even more pleasant, Lexus designers produced a steering wheel that contours to the human hand, which reduces fatigue and provides optimal grip if the driver is forced to make emergency maneuvers.

In terms of space, front passengers get plenty of room, and second-row passengers are just fine. The legroom isn’t segment-leading, but it’s close, and if you’re an adult sitting back there, you’re going to be just fine.

    Features and Tech

For 2025, Lexus made a few small upgrades to the NX’s interior, adding a pair of USB-C ports (bringing the total to six) and making wireless charging available at every trim level. The NX comes with a 9.8-inch touchscreen as standard equipment. Yet, in many interior photos of the NX, you’ll likely spot a larger, 14-inch screen dominating the dash. That’s part of a pricey Luxury Package.

Wireless device charging, wireless Apple CarPlay/Android Auto interface, digital key capability, and over-the-air system updates are standard. Optional upgrades include ambient lighting, panoramic moonroof, leather seating, heated and ventilated front seats, heated steering wheel, and a 17-speaker, 1,800-watt Mark Levinson PurePlay Surround Sound system that cannot be ignored.

Lexus Safety System+ 3.0 is standard on the NX. It includes automatic emergency braking, blind-spot monitors, rear cross-traffic alert, adaptive cruise control, automatic high-beam headlights, lane-keeping assist, pedestrian detection, and a system that warns passengers against opening the doors into oncoming traffic.

Lexus includes most optional features in packages.

    Materials and Design

Among luxury brands, Lexus is best known for its quiet, sumptuous cabins with high-quality, soft-touch materials everywhere. We could add airy and spacious with the available retractable panorama glass roof. Adding to the “feels” portion of the cabin is the optional Thematic Ambient Illumination package that can help you set a mood while driving after dusk. It comes with 14 preselected themes, like Rain Forest, Waterfall, and Sunset.

Even the standard NuLuxe stippled black interior trim looks high-end. You can opt for black open-pore wood trim with leather seats with chevron quilting. Of course, if you move to the F Sport trim, be prepared for contrasting red leather seats and trim and aluminum pedals that scream “performance racer.” It’s not a racer, but the bolstered red leather seats make it look like it could be.

    Cargo Room and Flexibility

One might think the NX’s sleek exterior styling might rob it of a bit of cargo space, but you’ll find a very respectable 22.7 cubic feet of space behind the rear seats and 46.9 with them folded down. In short, it’s more than some, less than others. For example, the Acura RDX offers 29.5 and 58.9 cubic feet of space. It’s really only a factor on longer trips. For running daily errands, it’s ample, plus the cabin is filled with thoughtful cubbies for water bottles, phones, and purses.
