Introduction
The 2022 Fiat 500X brings something to the mainstream subcompact SUV class that no other rival can claim: Italian charm. Though it’s an outlier in a segment dominated by the likes of the Honda HR-V, Kia Seltos, Mazda CX-30, Hyundai Kona, and Chevrolet Trailblazer, the made-in-Italy Fiat 500X does have its merits. Aside from its whimsical design and European flair, the 2022 Fiat 500X has a perky turbocharged engine and standard all-wheel drive (AWD). The 2022 model would be the second-to-last year of production for the 500X.

In testing the 2022 Fiat 500X, we praised this subcompact SUV for its Euro style, eager engine, and easy-to-use infotainment system. We also liked its appealing interior design, but weren’t as enthusiastic about its firm ride and the feel of its transmission. Additionally, we would have liked to see more standard active safety features.
All 2022 Fiat 500X models use a 1.3-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder engine. Though small in size, it makes a commendable 177 horsepower. Moreover, all 2022 500X models have all-wheel drive as standard. Power is transmitted through a standard 9-speed automatic transmission. Even taller drivers should find plenty of room in the front seats, while the rear passenger seats and cargo area are less spacious than what competitors offer.
