Ford, Lincoln Recall 300,000 Vehicles Over Unsecured Rear Seats

Ford and its Lincoln luxury marque are recalling 304,662 Ford Explorer and Lincoln Aviator SUVs from the 2020-2025 model years because their second-row seats can move or fold unexpectedly while the vehicle is in motion.

Ford told the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) that a switch used to fold the seats “may intermittently bind or become stuck in the down position.” A bezel around the switch may be misformed, trapping the switch. This can cause the seats to move, unlatch, or fold without warning.

Dealers will inspect the switches and replace the bezel if necessary.

Carmakers try to notify the owners of recalled vehicles, but those efforts aren’t always 100% effective. To check if your car is part of a recall, try our easy VIN check tool in our recall center.
