Amazon gave sellers some positive news this week. Beginning June 20, it will increase the maximum box length for FBA orders from 25 inches to 36 inches. (One seller responding to the news asked if Amazon meant July 20th, or if the change had already gone into effect.)
Amazon FBA maximum box dimensions will now be as follows:
Length: 36 inches
Width: 25 inches
Height: 25 inches
Weight: 50 lb
Amazon told sellers the change applies to packages already sent to Amazon fulfillment centers: “If you’ve already sent in packages under the new dimensions, they’ll be received as standard size boxes with no defects or fees.”
One seller commenting on LinkedIn wrote, “Great news for Amazon sellers”; another called it a “game changer.”
Amazon cited industry standards in Monday’s announcement as the reason for the change, telling sellers it allows them to use longer cartons across multiple sales channel. The FBA Shipping and routing requirements help page already has the new dimensions in its guidelines, where it reminds sellers, “While the length can be up to 36.0 inches, the width and height must not exceed 25.0 inches. Boxes exceeding these dimensions will be considered non-compliant and may result in shipping defects.”
