Ford Recalls F-150 Lightning Over Brake Fluid Leak

Ford recalled just five copies of its 2025 F-150 Lightning electric pickup because a loose screw can lead to a brake fluid leak.

Ford tells federal safety regulators factory workers may have performed an incorrect repair on a small number of trucks at the factory. They misaligned a screw holding in a hose bracket. It can come loose, letting the hose contact the tire. That could tear the hose, causing brake fluid to leak.

The brakes will still be powerful enough to stop a truck with a leak, Ford says, but the truck might require more distance to stop than expected. That could cause an accident.

Dealers will inspect the front brake hose for damage and replace bracket screws on both sides to correct the problem.

As with all recall repairs, the fix is free. Manufacturers attempt to contact every owner but don’t always reach them all with the news. Find out if your car has any outstanding recalls at our recall center.
