Lunch is hard. Whenever I’m struggling to figure out what to throw together in the middle of the workday and my stomach is rumbling, a sandwich is my go-to. And I don’t make the rules, but you just can’t serve a BLT or ham and cheese without a crunchy side of chips.
That’s what inspired one of Trader Joe’s latest snack launches: The iconic lunch pairing is behind the grocer’s new Deli Sandwich Style Chips, and they deliver on all the flavors you’d ever want in one bite.

What Do the Deli Sandwich Style Chips Taste Like?
If you’re a savory person (like me), these chips are a dream. Here’s how Trader Joe’s describes them: “They’re flavored with a suite of seasonings that evoke notes of smoky ham, dilly pickle, sharp cheese, and zesty mustard, and kettle-cooked for a consummately crisp texture, creating a savory synthesis of two culinary icons in one snack.”
This isn’t the brand’s first foray into a complex chip. The popular Patio Potato Chips, which returned to shoppers’ delight after a two-year hiatus, also blend a mix of four “picnic-ready” flavors. I was among the fans who were thrilled they came back, but I must say: the Deli Sandwich chips quickly replaced them in my essential snacking lineup.
My Review of the Trader Joe’s Deli Sandwich Style Chips
What sets these chips apart, in my humble opinion, is their texture. The kettle-cooked component gives them an extra satisfying crunch, which is what kept me reaching into the bag again and again. The main flavor I got was the tangy pickle, but the smoky, mustard taste came through and rounded everything out.
I polished these off in a few days on their own, but per Trader Joe’s suggestion, I’m planning to “get a little meta with it” and sprinkle them onto a deli sandwich next time. They’re also ideal for dipping, as they’re thick, sturdy, and versatile. One TikTok creator (@dollfacemcgee) got creative and paired them with pepperoncinis for some added mild spice.
If you’re looking to impress guests with an appetizer that requires absolutely no prep, these chips are it. Throw them in a bowl and mix them with the Patio Potato Chips for an elaborate, unique bite that’s sure to disappear in minutes—so make sure you buy a couple bags. Enjoy them at a watch party, backyard campout, or alfresco garden gathering.
Buying a Bag
The Deli Sandwich Style Chips have launched nationwide, so you should be able to find them on shelves at your local store (unless they’re sold out). They cost $3, and they’re likely to stick around through the summer as part of its seasonal snack lineup. Because they’re new, it’s unknown if they’ll become an annual find—but based on the initial love, you can probably place your bets in their favor.
