Right from the start, William Fan played by his own rules. After his 10th anniversary show last season, which was almost impossible to top in terms of size and spectacle, the moment had come for some leisure time. “It was clear to me from the start that I couldn’t respond to our last show with another one. I wanted to let everything sink in first, calm down, and take care of the finer details. That’s how the idea for this collection came about,” explained Fan. So spring 2026 was devoted to leisure time—or, more precisely, taking time; which you needed to find the little new details in his familiar silhouettes. Bags made of knotted ceramic beads, and unconventional cuts invited a closer look. To emphasize the slowness of the evening, guests were offered ice cream and were encouraged to send postcards to their loved ones.

Fan’s summer is surprisingly light—both literally and figuratively—with self-developed pleats, hidden smiley faces, and refreshing colors (by Berlin standards). As he’s done in the past, the designer worked with his closest community, including his parents, who usually sit proudly in the front row. “I never knew my parents in a leisure context because they always worked so much,” he explained. “I found this collection, which deals with doing nothing, to be a beautiful tribute to them, who are now fortunately retired and can finally enjoy their leisure time.” An extended family vacation is now in the works.
